May Bell Bakery is a hot spot in the area between Itaewon and Hangangjin Station, but I find myself preferring Jam & Bread. It’s a super small bakery located in the back street, in the more residential area, of Hannam-dong. The place is tiny, but they do have some seating in there for the people who’d like to dine in, but that’s not an option I would consider. It’s just far too cramped in there, and I’d much rather buy my bread and pastries and eat them at home.

One of my favourite bread from this bakery is their cranberry and walnut rye bread, which tastes similar to May Bell’s, and its cost are pretty similar. The bread is not sweet or buttery, and it’s crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside. They have a good selection of healthier bread, and I find them better than the Korean-style bakery bread.

Along with the bread, they also sell dessert, pastries, and sandwiches. One time my friend and I tried their caramel cream bread, which was different yet delicious. Some of their selections are similar to what you’d see in other bakeries, but they also sell some unique options like their creamy squash rustic bread.

Jam & Bread is a really nice independent bakery. I would recommend them over May Bell Bakery or The Bakers Table. Their selections do go fast, though, so try and get there early! I think their hours are 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, but I remember going there around 5:00 pm to see them already closed. And one time, I went there by 3:00 pm, and they were down to the last two cranberry and walnut rye bread, and I ended up getting them! If you’re a fan of May Bell and don’t want to deal with all the lines, do check out Jam & Bread!

From Itaewon Station, go out exit three, and walk straight, passing by the fire station and the big staircase until you reach the T-intersection in front of I.P. Boutique Hotel. Keep the straight path by crossing the street in front of the tunnel. Then you see a side street parallel to the main street. That side street is actually the top of a hill. Go down that hill, and Jam & Bread will be on your right at the bottom of the hill.
